Here's the thing about hyaluronic acid.
It sounds complicated.
It's not.
It's already in your skin, right now, doing its job quietly in the background.
So let's talk about what it actually is — and why we almost didn't put it in the Hydrate Elixir.
What It Actually Is
Picture a tiny sponge.
That's hyaluronic acid.
Your body already makes it. Your skin, your joints, your eyes — it's everywhere, holding onto water so everything stays soft and cushioned.
One small amount can hold an enormous amount of water. That's the whole magic trick.
But here's what nobody tells you: as we get older, your skin makes less of it.
And that's often when things start to feel tight. Dry. A little less bouncy than they used to.
It's not because you did something wrong.
It's just what happens.
Where It Comes From
Years ago, hyaluronic acid actually came from animal sources.
Today, most of it is plant-based or grown through fermentation — cleaner, more consistent, and vegan.
But here's where it gets interesting for us specifically.
Hyaluronic acid loves water. It does not naturally love oil.
And our Hydrate Elixir is 100% oil. No water at all.
So the hyaluronic acid you'll find in it isn't the standard kind. It's a rare, oil-soluble version — one that had to be specially made to survive inside an oil-only formula.
It had to earn its place.
What It Can Actually Do
I want to be honest with you here, because that matters more to me than sounding impressive.
Hyaluronic acid can help skin hold onto water. It can make skin feel more plump, more comfortable, more soft.
What it can't do is add back volume you've lost over the years. It's not a filler. It's not going to erase a wrinkle overnight.
And on its own, in a dry environment, it can actually pull moisture out of the air — or worse, out of your own skin — if there's nothing there to seal it in.
That last part is exactly why we didn't stop at hyaluronic acid alone.
Why We Paired It With Oil
Think of your skin like a bucket with tiny holes in it.
Hyaluronic acid pours water into that bucket.
But if the holes are still there, the water just leaks back out.
Oil is what patches the holes.
So in the Hydrate Elixir, hyaluronic acid isn't working alone. It's sitting alongside squalane, which mimics your skin's own natural oils, and sea buckthorn, which nourishes as it seals.
Together, they don't just add water.
They help you keep it.
The Part I Want You to Remember
Hyaluronic acid is a helper. Not a miracle. Not a fix-all.
It works best inside a routine that was actually built to hold it — not just marketed to sell it.
That's the whole reason Hydrate exists the way it does. Fewer ingredients. Each one chosen on purpose. Nothing there by accident.
If your skin has been feeling tight or thirsty no matter what you try, I'd love to walk through it with you.
